Bharat Petroleum entered the upstream sector in 2003 with an aim to provide partial supply security of crude and hedging of price risks and to become a vertically integrated oil company. With the additional aim of strengthening the company’s bottom line, a wholly owned subsidiary company of Bharat Petroleum, by the name Bharat PetroResources Limited (BPRL) was incorporated in October 2006.
